New research is revealing that Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) – commonly called a 'mini stroke’ – is not minor at all.
A study has found that after one of these attacks, a person’s risk of suffering a regular stroke and further harm is significantly higher.
The findings highlight the need for greater support and monitoring for patients following a TIA, as it can serve as a critical warning sign of more severe events to come.
Professor Stephen Davis spoke on ABC Radio’s Health Report with Doctor Norman Swan, to discuss what is TIA, what are the long-term risks, and the important findings of this on-going research.
